Hi, this is Dana Steven, Slate's movie critic, here with the Slate spoiler special podcast on Brave, the new Pixar movie about a Scottish princess.

And as a result, we don't get to spoil as many movies as we used to because you're not running off to press screenings to review movies all the time. Right. I'm actually editing copy and working. You're actually doing

useful work as opposed to the kind of garbage that I'm spewing. It's a real shame. I miss the

garbage. So anyway, I'm glad that you can come in and spoil Brave, and I hope we can get back on the

spoiler train and start doing some. And I'm going to throw Brave to you for a

quick plot summary because you've seen it more recently than me. You just saw it last night. So

catch us up. Outside of the mysterious trailer that shows a red-headed princess shooting arrows,

I don't think most people really know what happens in the movie because Pixar's been very good at

keeping it under wraps. Yeah, that's one fun thing about the movie is how much of the actual plot it was a complete surprise to

me, which hardly ever happens anymore. So, of course, needless to say, if you're listening to

this and you haven't seen Brave, I mean, I guess go ahead and keep listening, but we're going to

spoil everything that happens. Yeah, I always figure that's implicit in the title, but yes, here we go.

So Brave focuses on Marita, a Scottish princess. It's set in that sort of, you know, Disney fantasy prince and princessy medieval-esque time.

It's set in Scotland in the Highlands.
