Summary

Author and geopolitical analyst Brandon Weichert discusses his new book on the battle for space. He explains why the Space Force was created now, why space is the key strategic domain going forward, and what a space battle might look like. He examines how America is in dire need of reviving its space effort and how China’s economic rise could mean obtaining technological and ultimately military superiority. Finally, he looks at the socio-cultural divide and how that has severely hampered American superpower status and gives his prognosis of great power conflict and war in this decade.

How are you feeling on this inauguration day, Brandon?

0:28.4

Well, it's always great to see, you know, our democracy and action, even though, you know, we have had a heck of a time in the last six weeks at least in terms of the

0:40.3

transition of power. But we got through it. And, you know, I didn't support the President

0:45.8

Biden, but I'm very proud that he has handled this with great alacrity and dignity. And I, I hopeful that he can bring the country together as he has said he will.

And, you know, it could be an interesting few weeks going forward as well.

1:05.6

So, yeah, I was worried, but so far things are looking okay.

Because we hear about all this tech that's rolling out as we speak or on the verge, everything from AI, 5G, 6G, quantum internet, quantum computing, blockchain, et cetera.

That's exactly right. It's ready to go. And we've got primarily a great geopolitical threat

from China. We didn't have that really before. It was there, but they weren't technologically

or economically where they are now. Even in light of COVID, the Chinese have continued

to pace with their technological development as well as their economic growth, especially

compared to us in the United States.
