series that we're beginning at the church where a pastor called Grace Point Church, and we are in

Bismarck, North Dakota. This particular sermon is the first in the series. It's called the Lord

of the Church. We're going back to look at the basics of what it means, biblically speaking, to be a church.

Is it just a place on the street corner? Is it a time and a place? Is it a religious gathering? What is

As I've been thinking about that this week, I did a little bit of research. And I discovered that

72 years ago, there was a pastor in the town north of here, a place

called Wilton, many of you know it, who was concerned about people from his church who were

moving to Bismarck and had no place to meet. They weren't finding a good church home.

And so he kind of organized 22 people

from his church who had moved here to Bismarck to meet. And on June 26, 1953, they met in a home

to organize what was called First Evangelical Free Church of Bismarck. 1953, beginning with 22 people
