joined once again by Iman Joada Tamimi, historian and translator who does a lot of work on

Syria. He's been on the program before. It was on a couple of times in quick succession to

help us understand what was happening

with the rebel offensive that eventually ousted Bashar al-Assad late last year.

And he's also published translator. He's got a chronicle, a translation of a chronicle called

Fatal Andalus, the conquest of Al-Andalus that was published earlier this year.

And maybe we can talk, I'm in a little bit about what you're working on now later on.

But let's, first of all, thank you for coming back to the program.

Well, it was very pleasure to be on. Yes, thank you.

So, I mean, basically, we want to talk about what's been going on these

last several months under the new, I guess you could still call it new interim government of Syria,

Ahmed Ashara, the interim president. Before we get into specific issues, and I do want to talk about, you know, the regional or sectarian or minoritarian, whatever term would be best to use, clashes that we've seen.

But give me your overall assessment of the interim government and how it's performed so far and just anything that stands out to you

in a positive or negative way. Yeah, I was thinking about that actually this morning and, you know,

earlier today in terms of, you know, that would be the big question, I think. And to think of an over,

you know, a simple answer to explain it.
