True to his threat, the mad scientist, whose warnings have held the city in a grip of terror,

went on his rampage of destruction on the stroke of midnight.

The deadly impact of his mysterious ray smashed the famous tower bridge, hurling cars and pedestrians into the river below.

The police have warned everyone to remain in their homes.

This looks like a job for Superman. Hello and welcome to down these mean streets in this week's bonus Superman's summer

episode. Last week Superman saved the governor from a mobster's deadly revenge scheme.

Today our story opens, as it usually does, at the Daily Planet, where editor Perry White has a new assignment for Clark Kent.

Kent has to pick up the trail of another Planet reporter, a man who went missing on the

search for Alonzo Craig, a celebrated Arctic explorer who disappeared

himself while searching for a lost race and their leader, a witch doctor, rumored to be immortal.

It leads to a new adventure at the top of the world,

complete with a hidden treasure and a battle between the man of steel

and a ferocious polar bear. Now a warning that the

audio quality of some of these episodes isn't as great as what we've heard

before but you can still hear and enjoy the story.

So now, with Bud Collier as Superman, here's the search for Alonzo Craig, a six-part story that

originally aired between May 27th and June 7th 1940.
