before they arrive when their car is stolen by bandits on the run from the police

And when they finally reach Morton's Mountain Observatory, they find a nervous assistant who later winds up murdered. This is a great story where

Superman battles villains who plan to destroy a mountain to steal priceless ore

and he learns just how Uncle Horace is able to predict the weather with such
