All right gun talk listeners this is Tom Gresham glad that you could join me for this this is historic I mean really historic

This is the recording of the very first gun talk radio show March 5th 1995. I had never been on the radio before just

getting it started had no idea what I was doing that part's obvious it's not

really that good but it is interesting to listen to it and listen to who was there and what we talked about.

Now, remember, this is 1995 right after the passage of the Clinton gun band, the so-called assault weapon ban.

It was when a lot of people woke up and went, what's an AR-15?

Wait, they just did what?

And suddenly started saying, well, I think maybe I want one of those.

So we had that going on.

You'll notice that we had somebody from the NRA's Institute for Legislative Action,

the ILA.

We had some of my friends there. We actually had fake callers because we had no callers. We had no callers. We had no show.

Nobody knew this thing was on. I'm not even sure how many stations it was on.

Not very many, I can tell you that many stations it was on.

Not very many, I can tell you that.

But it's interesting to listen to it

and gotta go back and go, wow, it's a real time capsule.

So I'm glad we have this, pulled it off of a cassette tape, believe it or not, that we've had

laying around here. So anyway, I mean basically that's kind of all there is to it.

If you listen to it, imagine the year, the time, and I guess one of the real takeaways is how much

we're talking about the exact same things, certainly on guns, but also on gun control and gun rights and the fight for it and it's just another

reminder that this fight is constant and it is forever and it's not like we're going to win and then be done.
