In a big move today that promises to improve the charging lives of GM owners in North America,

General Motors officially gained access to Tesla's extensive supercharger network today.

This development marks the next big stage in the supercharger pivoting,

from being a closed moat system for use by Tesla drivers only,

to opening up, firstly via the magic dock connector that select sites for

CCS cars to use the inbuilt adapter and start a charge on the Tesla app to today's move,

which integrates GM into the network.

So let's talk about the announcement at 8 a.m. this morning, Eastern, at 1 o'clock for me in the afternoon.

The first GM car to plug in to the superchargers, not belonging to test engineers and those working in the company, was done by my good friend and host of State of Charge on YouTube, Tom Malogany.

Some interesting logistics.

I was picking his brain on how it worked in the background.

Now, he recently bought a Chevy Equinox, so he had a car that was ready to go.

Plus, he had at least three of the adapters to go from the end of the Tesla supercharger,

which is J3400, Nax, the Tesla plug, into the side of his car, which is CCS1,

so didn't have to wait for a day or two to get one from the PR teams inside General Motors.

In a video on his channel this morning, he announced that EV

owners could now purchase a North American charging standard DC adapter, and that grants them

access to over 17,800 Tesla supercharger stations in the United States and Canada. Well, this

move follows similar initiatives by Ford and Rivian, who'd already begun
