Summary

In the latest episode of Million Bazillion, listener Shreen wanted to know, “How do you become a CEO?” No spoilers, but after Ryan and Bridget’s adventure in attempting to become CEOs themselves, Shreen still had some questions about how a successful CEO gets their job, and what they do all day. In this special bonus episode, Shreen interviews Christina Stembel, CEO of Farmgirl Flowers to find out more about what it’s really like to be a CEO, how to start and run a company, and what Christina did as a kid that helped set her on the path to becoming a CEO as a grownup.

Hey, Million Bazillionaires. If you've just listened to our latest episode, you heard us answer Shreen's question. How do you become a CEO?

0:13.6

Yep, and we loved her question so much. We decided to help her out by introducing her to a real CEO.

That's right. So in this special bonus episode that you're listening to now, Shreen takes over the mic and she gets to ask her questions to the CEO of a flower business.

Hi, I'm Shrine. I'm nine years old and I'm here with Christina Stemble, the CEO of Farm Girl Flowers.

0:51.1

Hi, Shreen. I'm so excited to be here with you today. What is Farm Girl Flowers?

0:57.3

Farm Girl Flowers is a direct-to-consumer e-commerce flower company. So that means we sell flowers online and then we ship them in boxes to go to the person that you send them to.

for events that we would do. And I was just like, why did these

1:11.7

cost so much? I was like, these flowers are costing a lot of money. And I thought they'd be a lot

no, I could not. I started doing a lot of research. But I did find out from that research that there

1:27.3

wasn't a lot of new, new companies starting. It was a lot of research, but I did find out from that research that there wasn't a lot of new

1:29.3

companies starting. It was a lot of ones that had been around for a long time. So I saw that

1:34.2

as an opportunity that maybe I could make flowers that look a little different than other flowers

1:38.6

that are out there. So that's why I came up with the idea of Farm Girl. And it was one that I could do

1:43.7

myself.

1:44.8

I didn't go to college. I didn't have like a lot of friends that were like, let's start a business

1:48.8

together or anything. So it was one I could do myself and from my apartment, which is where I

1:54.1

started it and did it for the first two years. Mm, makes sense. That makes sense.

2:00.3

If I were to start a company, where would you tell me to start?

2:04.4

I think you're already ahead of most people. Because at nine years old, to even know that this is something you want to do is way ahead of most people, and especially me.

2:15.6

I didn't think about starting a company until I was
