I debated whether or not to release this episode on the main feed.

As you know, I do a bonus episode of the show each week for patrons,

and occasionally if a bunch of patrons reach out and tell me they'd like me to release an episode for general

consumption, I oblige.

But I went back and forth on this one because we're dealing with some fraught topics.

Gender, Transgender, the difference between men and women, the last of which is the

one that I think is more apt to get you in trouble than anything.

It used to be kind of a rich fodder for observational comics in the 90s, but now if you shoot from the hip on what makes men and women different, you can get a senior thesis written up about you.

But I'm putting today's episode on the main feed, despite some

sensitive issues we're going to cover, because I've come to the following

conclusion. If we're going to have meaningful conversations, substantive

conversations about awkward subjects,

then decent, curious people can't be afraid to talk out loud about them and verbally investigate new ideas.

Everybody keeps saying we need to have an important national conversation about X.

But at the same time a lot of us are afraid to talk out loud in that conversation for fear of getting

shamed or made fun of or cancelled or socially marooned.

Well that's not a conversation, that's a lecture, or maybe a sermon.

So upon reflection, it seems kind of hypocritical of me

as a professional dude who talks into a microphone to tell you all to feel more empowered to discuss

sensitive subjects out loud. You should feel comfortable doing that. But then when we get into

some actual sensitive stuff, I'm just going to keep my mouth shut.

So I'm going to put my money where my mouth is on this one.
