Hello and welcome to this special Independence Day 2019 episode of the Diz Unplugged, connecting with Walt Podcast.

I am your host and Diz Historian Michael Bowling, and I am joined by my co-host, producer, and good friend Craig Williams.

Craig, how are you today? I'm doing great. How are you, Michael?

Oh, I'm doing well. Thank you. So, Craig, why are we having not a folks who have probably noticed? I didn't give this an episode number. This is a special bonus episode for the Independence Day

holiday, which for our international listeners, July 4th, this Thursday, is when the United States celebrates its Independence Day, when we decided to cease becoming a colony from Britain and to forge our own path, which then led to a rather bloody revolutionary war that we won.

So, anyway.

Not that we have to get into those details with this, but it is important.

But some of what we're going to talk about sort of does.

Yes.

But July 4th is considered the day the Continental Congress actually signed and wrote

and announced the Declaration of Independence.

When you go through history, you'll, you know, when you read the historic facts, you

realize, you know, it could have been historic facts, you realize, you know,

it could have been July 1st, it could have been other days, but this is the official day

that the founding fathers felt it should be acknowledged. So, anyway, so, so Craig, why is this

a bonus episode and not a regular episode? Well, we just have a little bit of craziness going on this week.

And obviously, July 4th, it was actually yesterday in terms of when it's being released.

So it's a little bit on the late side as well, too, there, to actually get you in the mood for the holiday.

But at the same time, we wanted to share some of the movies and such that we enjoy watching right around the Independence Day holiday.
