0:09.0	This is not a day in which we are going to be reading from Scripture, but it's a day we're

0:13.7	In fact, we're going to be looking at how do I hear God's voice in Scripture?
0:17.6	Like, what are the ways in which any person can, like, actually pick up the
0:21.3	Bible and not just get the story, not just understand the stories, but really hear God's voice,
0:29.8	like really know what it is we're listening to, who it is that we're listening to,
0:33.1	because the Bible is not only a document, the Bible is a living thing, and it's God's
0:39.6	living voice continuing to speak to us now. Here's some tips. We'll be five little tips,
0:44.7	five tips on how to hear God's voice. And I want to start out with the first one. The first one is
0:48.6	know what you're reading. What I mean by know what you're reading is a couple things. First thing
0:52.3	is know that the Bible is not
0:54.6	necessarily, sometimes we approach the Bible like it's a magic eight ball, right? Kind of like,
0:59.4	we just look for an answer. Or we approach the Bible, like it's a book of inspiring quotes. So we just
1:05.2	look for inspiration. We look for like some up being uplifted. And then we read some stories that we're
1:10.1	going to get into the stories as we go through this Bible in the year plan and like wait that was not
1:15.5	inspirational and that does not provide me with a lot of direction for my life.
1:19.4	So you need to know what you're reading.
1:21.5	What I mean by that is we need to know that there are many genres.
1:26.3	There are 73 books in the Old Testament and New Testament,
1:29.3	73 books in the canon of scripture. And they are a mix of literary genres. And so I need to
