After a nine-year investigation, a man who had been leaking secrets to the Soviets was finally arrested.

That man, being Aldrich Ames.

For anyone who is uninitiated with the man, Aldrich Ames was an American CIA official that was arrested back in the year 1994 on charges of committing espionage for the Soviet Union.

The man that you can see behind me here has the unique distinction of causing the most expensive security breach in American history, one that would result in the death of many, many individuals.

Now it is that after many years of investigation and subsequent records, we now realized

that Ames was responsible for the destruction of over a hundred different operations for the United

States. And over the course of his career, would manage to betray more than 30 different

operatives resulting in the deaths of many. But mind you, we're not talking about individuals that

were just spying for the United States. We're also talking about for allies with MI6 and Britain

and others. Single-handedly, this man was responsible for bringing effectively all Western intelligence

to a complete halt over the course of the 80s and 90s. As an example of some of the things that

he did, just before the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, he managed to release the information

of two highly classified operations that the United States were working on. In one case,
