Among all things that I expected to be talking about this week, first off, I didn't expect the whole thing to happen with a U.S. soldier defecting to North Korea.

And the second thing that I didn't anticipate talking about was the geopolitical ramifications of the freaking Barbie movie. Which, you know, yeah, you know, of all the impressive skills that Barbie has managed to amass over the course of like 60 something years as a dull, I would not have anticipated that

cartography was going to be at the point that got, uh, that, that got her banned from Vietnam.

Hey, you know what? Here we are. That, that that's the world that we live in. I'm sure that

a number of you people have already seen articles for the past month or so about why it is that Vietnam has banned Barbie, but I'm going to go ahead and kind of explain this as to what is going on and the historical context behind the reasoning here.

The new Barbie film starring Margo Robbie and Ryan Gosling is set for imminent release.

But according to Vietnam's state-run toy tray newspaper, the film's release has been

barred. With the head of the Department of Cinema, a governing body in charge of licensing

and censoring foreign films, said, and I quote, we do not grant license for the American

movie Barbie to release in Vietnam because it contains the offending image of the nine dash line.

Okay. Now, for anyone who is unfamiliar with what's been going on in terms

of geopolitics for the last, say, nine or 10 years involving anything with China, the image in
