Summary

He signed with the Milwaukee Bucks and, in July, he became an NBA champion. But Elijah is not just a basketball player—he is also a husband, a father, and a disciple of Jesus Christ.

Thank you so much for having me, I'm excited.

0:58.5

Well, this is so exciting. I am a big NBA fan and watched the finals with excitement and it was

1:15.2

the experience of getting picked up by the Bucks and you know, your incredible ride with them at the

1:22.2

end of the season. But before we get to that, you have had kind of an interesting upbringing as it

1:28.9

relates to the church and to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. From what I understand, you grew up around

1:36.2

the church your whole life but it wasn't until you were at BYU that you kind of really became

1:42.0

committed to it. Is that right, Elijah? Yes, I mean, I think essentially we're all converts at some

1:47.8

point in our lives and I think that the biggest thing for me was to become fully committed to what I

1:54.7

wanted in my life in terms of having a family in the temple, that type of lifestyle. So I think that

2:01.4

was one of the biggest decisions for me in choosing BYU. So when I was younger, obviously I went to

2:09.4

church. I did, I did all this stuff in church. I just, I was a kid, you know, I had influences

2:14.6

here and there. But I think, like you said, quote-unquote, I'm a convert to the church. I have strong

2:21.2

family lineage to the church. It's just that you know, being a young kid and everyone, we're all
