0:00.0	Nothing has meant more to me across time than hearing people's stories of how on being
0:05.3	has landed in their far-flung lives and worlds.
0:10.0	I'd like to begin by sharing a moment of mine.
0:14.1	The conversation I had with Dr. Rachel Naomi Raman was in the very early years of the show.
0:20.9	And one memory I have is that I was working very late.
0:26.8	And for some reason it was happening at night and I was in this dark studio and I was
0:32.1	just relying on the engineer who happened to be on duty and he was kind of walking in and
0:37.3	out of the room.
0:39.4	And I remember that I had this wise person on the other end, this physician, this healer,
0:49.3	and I closed my eyes and it was such an intimate experience and I felt like her wisdom was
0:55.2	coming straight into my body.
0:58.3	And the moment I remember that has just really stayed with me and really imprinted the show.
1:06.8	And I would say the philosophy and way of thinking about living and wisdom that has continued
1:15.3	to kind of accumulate in me across the years is she told the story that I had heard before,
1:22.5	the story behind the Jewish ethical commandment to repair the world, Tikkunolam.
1:31.3	And the story behind that commandment is about the original light behind the universe,
1:39.8	that in the beginning there was this original light and something happened to shatter the
1:48.8	light into shards that lodged in everything, in every person, in every aspect of matter
1:59.2	and vitality.
2:00.9	And that the work of repairing the world is to from where you are planted in the world
2:08.5	that you can see and touch to look for those shards, to call them out when you see them,
2:18.4	to gather them up and in so doing you do your part in repairing the world.
