In this co-production with a man who got me started in podcasting,

my old chum Steve Guerra of the history of the papacy podcast,

we tackle the morally difficult book of Joshua. As usual,

Steve kicks off the proceedings. Welcome back to another exciting collaboration between

the history in the Bible podcast and the History of the Papacy podcast.

Today, our task will be to turn the microscope on one of the most interesting and controversial

books of the Bible, that being the book of Joshua.

Who was Joshua?

Who wrote the book? Why would they write such a book? Many people have

quite strong opinions on Joshua, including us, Gary and I. We are going to put Joshua on trial,

but in a different way than we have in the past. So let's get into it.

Gary, how are you?

I'm fine, thanks, in splendid isolation.

Yeah, we should probably say at the point we are recording this episode in March of 2020,

we are in the height of the coronavirus epidemic, you might say, pandemic. And so we are both

completely quarantined. We're six feet or two meters, if you prefer. I don't want to, we're not

going to offend anyone. We're well, we're well apart to offend anyone. Well, we're well apart from each other.
