Welcome to the latest Blood Red Podcast, where we are today launching the first Reach PLC Fans Footballer of the Year Award.

Reach PLC, the network that owns the Echo and a few other newspapers across the country,

including the Daily Mirror, asked all of their journalists to pick their top

Premier League footballers of 2020. After counting the votes, it's been whittled down

to seven players. Liverpool's Virgil Van Dyke, Mohammed Sala, Sadio Manet and Jordan Henderson,

are joined by Manchester Cities, Kevin de Broiner, Aston Villas, Jack Greenish, and Marcus Rashford of Manchester United.

Those names are now going to be put to a fans vote, which is where you,

the listeners, come in with the winner being crowned the inaugural Reach PLC

Fans Footballer of the Year. With me to talk through each of those contenders are two familiar faces

or voices if you're listening as a podcast

in Ian Doyle and Theo Squires.

We'll dive straight into the contenders. We'll start with the non-Liverpool players.

Dory I'll come to you first on the first of those names, a player I absolutely love to watch. He was my number one

when we did the voting

and that is Manchester City's Kevin de Broina he absolutely had to be on this

short list yeah he is quite good football I think the fact that he didn't play

the other year which season was it where he was injured for parts of it was it last season

Was it last season the start of? Was it the season before? Yeah, because well that's it that's right actually, because then there was that

suggestion was that the Manchester City still managed to win the league with, was it 98 points,

and that perhaps the debronner it wasn't, well not a great player, he wasn't quite as influential as people thought,
