Ta’Kiya Young, a pregnant young mother of two, was tragically shot and killed in an encounter with the police after they were called to confront her for allegedly shoplifting from her local supermarket. It didn’t take long for Black Lives Matter activists to take to the streets chanting her name to protest racism and police brutality, but did this tragedy have anything to do with Ta’Kiya’s race?
