And today we will be talking about the great fortunes at universities

and the great crime of structural racism and at higher education. We are told that if you want to improve your

opportunities, all you need is an education. And the more schooling you complete, the greater

the likelihood you will achieve your life's goals.

When the entire community is underserved, the recommended response is often greater access

to education will solve your problems.

In prescribing such a solution, parents are often the ones who are held accountable

for any shortcomings a student may face in their education.

As we have a guest discussed in the past here on the show, this

individualizes the responsibility for an education, putting all the burden on a

parent without holding the system, or educational institutions accountable.

Let alone things like the shortcomings of American democracy or the political economy of capitalism,

or its latest version that has gut public schools that is neoliberalism.
