I wasn't surprised terribly, but when it actually happened and you read the headline, it was definitely a gut punch, no matter what your thoughts are on Bishop Strickland.

The Catholic Left has been so big on the importance of the laity, and yet the laity offered no explanation for why.

It sounds like a church that saying, shut up. We're getting rid of this guy because we don't like him, and we're not even going to say it. It's scorched earth,

smash mouth politics. You don't care what happens. All you care about is winning today. I do believe our Heavenly Father is very patient, but after a while he's going to say, I'm going to force you to put up

or shut up. And the question facing the church right now is, is church teaching wrong and society right? Or is it the

other way around? Do you want me to answer that? Answer. The church is right.

And of course, we're going to be talking about Bishop Strickland.

So the news has kind of marinated for a few days now,

but it's been confirmed Bishop Strickland has been deflocked, as we've been saying. He has not been defrocked, but he's been deflocked. He no longer is the Bishop of Tyler, Texas. And some people

celebrated this move. Some people are in dismay. We're just trying to give you a straight and answer of what we understand at this time and how maybe we should be thinking about it.

This was a gut punch, no matter what your thoughts are on Bishop Strickland. It was shocking. And here's why it was shocking, because on Saturday we woke up to the news coming out of Rome that Bishop Joseph Strickland of Tyler, Texas,

was being removed from his diocese.

He had been asked to resign on November 9th.

He had declined to resign because he said a bishop can't leave his flock, and he'd done

nothing wrong.
