Hello, welcome to Big Picture Monday. My name is Callie Black here with all the context you need to totally rock this week's Come Follow Me readings.

This week is December 8th through the 14th, and we are studying the Articles of Faith and

official declarations one and two. And if even just the title of this week's readings

makes you go, okay, what is going on? Or like, I feel like I should know what these are and I don't.

Don't worry, I got you. You are going to

fully understand what all of these are and the contents of them by the time we're done here.

So we're going to kind of break it into three different sections because these are three

very distinct revelations and like turning points in church history. We'll start with

articles of faith and then we'll do official declaration one and then we'll do official declaration two.

Okay.

So let's start with the Articles of Faith.

Probably something that you're familiar with the content of these 13 statements, but maybe you aren't as familiar with the context.

Where did they come from?

Why do we even have them?

In order to tell you that story,

I want you to picture the church in 1842. So this is the Navu era. This is in fact, like,

one of the most flourishing Navu eras, I guess, one of the most flourishing years of the

Navu era, I should say that way.

The saints had already endured a lot of difficulties in Kirtland.

And of course, in Missouri, the prophet had finished his time in Liberty Jail along with others as well.
