Here are today's headlines. A bipartisan group of 13 senators unveiled legislation Tuesday to protect victims from digitally altered revenge pornography.

Pictures are videos of victims that someone else alters to make them appear nude or in sexual situations.

Senators Ted Cruz, a Texas Republican and Amy Klobuchar, a Minnesota Democrat,

sponsored the Take It Down Act to crack down on the practice of using artificial intelligence to create so-called deep fake pornography of other people.

Cruz said that we've witnessed a stunning increase in expletative sexual material online

largely due to bad actors taking advantage of newer technologies like AI.

He said that many women and girls are victimized again and again as their images live online in perpetuity.

Cruz said that while some states provide legal remedies for victims, he wants to create a uniform federal law that would help in

removing and prosecuting the publication of such images. Emma Waters, a

research fellow at the Heritage Foundation, explained how it works. She said that the AI generated

photos and videos, dubbed deep fakes, can be produced in a matter of minutes on various apps and

websites. Anyone can put a person's face on these apps

which then insert them into a sexually explicit photo or video. The

legislation doesn't just go after creators of deep fake pornography.

It would force websites that publish the material to take it down within 48 hours once notified.

Senator Dick Durbin introduced a similar piece of legislation, but supporters of this new bill have criticized Durbin's measure for being too broad, with one senator saying it would stifle American technological innovation.

Senators say this new bill will be narrowly tailored to punish criminal acts

without chilling lawful speech. New York's top court ruled on Tuesday that a gag order on President Donald Trump

related to his New York hush money case would remain in effect. The gag order

prevents Trump from publicly commenting about the witnesses, jurors, or court staff.

It does, however, let him speak about the judge and the district attorney who brought the case, Alvin Bragg.
