There is nothing I love more than being a tourist in my own city.

You hear me talk about that in so many episodes.

I wander City Hall every chance I get.

I stop at every blue and yellow historical marker. I know the obvious history and

tourist attractions. But even more I love the not so obvious moments in history and

the not so obvious history makers.

One of my favorite ways to tour any city is taking a walking tour.

Recently a friend and listener, Jen H, sent me a link to an article in Billy Penn.com about a new tour company in Philadelphia.

The title of this article was finally, a history tour dedicated to Philly's most bad-ass women.

Of course I read the entire article. the most badass women.

Of course I read the entire article but that headline had me hooked because what you'll

find when you take one of the fabulous walking tours through the city of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection, is that Sisterly

Affection is lacking. There aren't many women celebrated, let alone even mentioned,

during many of these tours beyond Betsy Ross.

That's where Beyond the Bell Tours is making a difference.

Beyond the Bell was founded by Rebecca Fisher and Joey Lourieu, friends who met at Haviford College

who wanted to share other perspectives

from Philadelphia's history.
