In 1604, Anne Gunter, age 20, began suffering from fits.

She was investigated by several doctors, including two top physicians from Oxford,

who concluded there was nothing physically, naturally wrong with her.

Still, the fits not only persisted, they worsened.

What were these fits, exactly?

Well, that's a bit of a roller coaster.

When she was brought before English court in 1606, witnesses relayed a bevy of symptoms. Some of those

symptoms sound a lot like epilepsy. Quivering, shaking, stiffness, convulsions. Her eyes bulged,
