Summary

Beth McKenzie is an American pro trail runner living in Australia. She is also the Founder and CEO of Wyn Republic, a performance sports apparel brand, and a mother of two. Over the last two seasons, Beth has accumulated several very strong performances including 2x podium finishes at Ultra Trail Australia and 2x podium finishes at Tarawera. Last fall, in her 100 mile debut, she finished 2nd place at the Javelina Jundred.

Previous to her trail running career, Beth was a professional triathlete where she and her husband both enjoyed very successful careers. During that time, Beth tested positive for Ostarine and ultimately served a two-year ban, which we discuss at length in this episode. This is Beth's first appearance on the podcast.

Previous to her trail running career, Beth was a professional triathlet

0:54.7

where she experienced a lot of success before her career experienced a huge interruption. In

1:01.5

2016, Beth tested positive for a banned substance called Osterine, a subject that we talk about

1:07.5

at length in today's podcast. Obviously, this has become a huge conversation in the sport in the wake of Steen Angermund

1:15.9

and Joeline Chapnanos cases.

1:18.0

We've covered it at length on the show now a couple of times.

1:21.4

And I think Beth's story is another informative case study for our sport and trail running

1:27.4

to learn from as we embrace anti-doping

who do compete with integrity. Beth has so much to share here on that subject. I won't try to

summarize it at the top. Just listen

1:45.5

with an open mind. And if you want to go deeper, you can reference Beth's substack, which I linked

1:51.1

in the show notes of the episode. After we untangle that complicated story in the back half of the
