I'm John Bachelor with David Livingston, Dr. Space of the Space Show.

This is Hotel Mars episode and we're continuing our understanding of the Chinese space program after the success of SpaceX these many months and years to build reusable boosters.

First stage is Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy.

The second stage would be Starship and Super Heavy.

The Chinese are coming up with a version that will be ready sometime in the first half of this century, long March 9.

But to lunar orbit, they have plans and the plans and consist of a station, a research station, they call it on the moon.

Rick, I come to you because he pay is another place that Shin was telling us news, a senior Chinese space expert unveil the plan for the construction of the International Lunar Research Station initiated by China and an extended invitation to organizations and scientists around the world to participate in the program.

What is this Rick? Is this new? Is this a long standing? They're going to build a research station and claim it's their own?

John, we've known about the Russia China plan for the International Lunar Research Station since 2021.

But what the Chinese are advertising now is that their lunar research station is going to have its own bureaucracy, a cooperation organization, and it's also going to have a set of rules.

We don't know what those rules will be, but what the Chinese appear to be doing is is coming up with their basically their Artemis Accords coalition with Chinese characteristics.

They're really going full cold war on the moon. It's us or them.

Now they hope that many American allies and many of the countries that have signed up to the Artemis Accords can also be tempted to join the Chinese Russian moon program.

And in a sense that that could happen countries like the United Arab Emirates Brazil, maybe some European countries France might be tempted to join the Russian Chinese coalition along with North Korea, Venezuela, Cuba, Pakistan.
