Ukraine crisis, energy. They are together now as a threat to the national security of Europe

or allies to the planet in terms of recovery from the pandemic. The headlines are representative

of the concern worldwide from London. Energy prices rally as US considers ban on Russian

oil imports. Subhead crude hits its highest level since 2008 as European natural gas jumps

almost 80%. I welcome Bud Weinstein. Bud for years has been my guide on these matters.

Because what we're dealing with here is a story that is not fresh. It's a story that

we've seen before. Bud is on the McGuire Energy Institute advisory board. He's retired

as the associate director, also retired from SMU teaching at the business school. And

he's written extensively about the ability of the US as a energy superpower to provide

for Europe, to provide for the world if and when. Well, here it is. And Bud, a very good

evening to you. I report just in these last hours, there is information from Germany that

they will extend the life of some of their nuclear power plants, which they'd hoped to shut

down soon enough is also suggestion that they'll continue to use coal. The dirtiest of

all possible fossil fuels in their electric generating plants. There are other considerations

going on across Europe. Right now I'm told that the facilities that they need have to be

built. They don't now exist, especially for a liquefied natural gas. We don't know if
