COP27. This is the United Nations Climate Conference in Sharmael Shake, Egypt.

And I recommend everyone attend the website that the UN has put up handsomely,

because the headlines tell the story of the agenda for those gathering,

including the President of the United States and the new Prime Minister of Great Britain.

In Egypt, for example, heat waves to impact every child on Earth by 2050.

For example, climate change, CO2 and methane in our atmosphere reach record levels,

or countries climate promises still not enough to avoid catastrophic global warming,

or climate change, no credible pathway to 1.5 centigrade limit,

according to the UN. And then the presentation, what you need to know about this year's big

UN climate conference. I welcome Professor Richard Epstein, who is my god on these matters.

Richard has been writing about the climate change controversy for many years and has written

about it most recently for the Hoover Institution, where he's a senior fellow. He writes for the Hoover

Institution's publication, defining ideas. Richard, a very good evening to these headlines are

as scary as they were at COP26, but that was before the war. That was before there was an energy

shortage in Europe. That was before there was a global challenge by inflation, in part,

because of energy prices. So this present COP27, do you expect it to at least mitigate some of

its more extreme cases about fossil fuels, given that the prosperity of planet Earth depends upon

energies being delivered to the people of Europe and America. Good evening to you.
