well Robert is back the farmer on the roof with a bit of a wrap-up Robert and you put in eight years growing in quite a unique space and I think that's enough time certainly to have distilled some best practices some some worst practices, you know just some unique tips and

tricks that even if someone's not growing on a roof they could take something away from, right?

Sure, let me say first of all I can't believe I've been at it for eight

seasons and one thing is I didn't study this very much when I started and now there's some pretty good books out there that

people can read there are websites Instagram's like my own that people can go and

look at and not go through all the mistakes that I made in these eight years

where just now I start to feel like I'm getting it together.

What I've actually learned is whether it's because you think you're going to supply a restaurant or you want to do some community service and grow crops safe for a food bank or if you're just doing it for yourself and your family, it is a lot of hard work.

And it will either be a lot of hard work, followed by more hard work, or up front a lot of money,

and then followed by hard work.

To do in Barcelona a serious kind of rooftop garden,

we calculate by we, I know some people who are in this business.

It's calculated that you need at least say about $125 per square yard to get going.

I'm translating that from square meters and euros in my head, but that's just

to get the basic going, to get the substrate, to get the things that go in below the substrate,

to think about irrigation and whatnot.

So, you know, be aware that it's not gonna be free

if you want to do this in a big way.

What I've also learned, Kevin, is that I'm really starting to think that on a rooftop

overwintering anything you can is very important partly for a reason I said before, it helps you save the time that you would have spent otherwise taking

out old crops and putting in new seedlings.
