St. John's men basketball team has given Vice TV backstage access to document their season

in Rick Petino's second year coaching the team.

The six-part documentary series is titled Petino Red Storm Rising and airs every Tuesday night at 10 p.m. on Vice TV.

The second episode premieres tonight and Seelow played a cut from the first episode

of Coach Petino getting into the players at halftime of the Providence game and the coach

joins us now. Rick, good morning. Thanks for joining us. How are you? Well, thanks for having me,

guys. I'm great. So we just heard the halftime speech at Providence.

You guys are down 12, and you got into those guys, and I'm sitting here next to Willie Cologne,

who played for some great head coaches, and people yelling at him, and we're sitting here smiling.

Maybe we're a little old school.

But, you know, it's a, you got to really know your guys, I think, in 2025 to get

into them like that and not lose them. Why did you know that that approach was going to work

with this particular group? Well, it really wasn't that tough on them. You should see some of my

Kentucky half times.

But you know, look, you watch Bill Parcell's fabulous coach on the sidelines.

You can't do that today.

And the difference is as long as you don't personalize it toward an individual you can get on them hard as long as

it's always toward the team um you know most of them will say hell that's not me he's talking to

you know so um you know as long as you don't you don't personalize it. They will respond.

We've had some very difficult half times this year because we're down probably most half times that we play this year.
