My parents asked me at one point about somebody I was working with and I gave the answer,

oh yeah, he's a very competent surgeon. And my parents freaked out. They're like a competent surgeon.

Like, competent was to them. Like, I don't want a competent surgeon. I've got a really good surgeon.

And we had to have this whole conversation about like, yeah, the the bar for competence is

phenomenally high here. And so all of us are competent surgeons. You know, they're there are a few

like exceptions on either side of that bar that really exceed the norm. But to to be board certified

or whatever to to be out in practice to finish like that that bar is really high. And so when I say

competent, I mean, yeah, damn good. Like good enough to be out there doing surgery on live people.

Like, that's a really high bar. And that's also satisfying, right? That's saying that this person

is not the best surgeon that has ever lived. And if we limit ourselves to only the best surgeon

that has ever lived, there will be one practicing surgeon in the world at any given time.

Therefore, we set the bar really, really high. And anybody who clears it gets to go do this job.
