Summary

The Rich Zeoli Show- Hour 1:

  • According to multiple reports, there is an active shooter on University of North Carolina’s Chapel Hill campus. A school alert warned students that an “armed and dangerous person [is] on or near campus” and urged students to shelter in place.
  • Judge Tanya S. Chutkan, “the federal judge overseeing former President Donald J. Trump’s prosecution on charges of conspiring to overturn the 2020 election”, has determined that Trump’s trial will begin on March 4th—one day before Super Tuesday when 15 states will vote in the Republican Presidential Primary. You can read more from The New York Times’ Alan Feuer and Glenn Thrush here: https://www.nytimes.com/2023/08/28/us/politics/trump-trial-date-jan-6.html
  • Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is in New Hampshire. Is he secretly preparing a 2024 presidential run? If not, what else is he doing there?
  • Rich, Matt, and Henry will be broadcasting LIVE from the Grand Hotel in Cape May on Friday, September 1st—but the mullet is gone!
  • According to Sharon Udasin from The Hill, “[w]orkers across California are grappling with yet another climate change-induced threat: a rapidly spreading fungus that can land its unsuspecting victims with prolonged flu-like symptoms, or far worse”—coccidioides, also known as “valley fever.” You can learn more here: https://thehill.com/policy/equilibrium-sustainability/4172025-valley-fever-fungus-surging-northward-in-california-as-climate-changes/
  • Brandon Drey of The Daily Wire reports that “[t]he Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website appeared to have quietly stopped collecting COVID-19 vaccine adverse events on the federal agency’s V-safe website earlier this summer.” You can read Drey’s full story here: https://www.dailywire.com/news/cdc-removes-covid-vaccine-adverse-event-reports-from-website-report

And great to be with you on this Monday, the judge in Trump's January 6th case has set his trial date for March 4th. Right, smack dab in the middle of Super Tuesday. Same as the nonsense George is doing, by the way. Completely completed to throw him off the game. No doubt. Welcome back. Great to be with you 855-839-1210 on Twitter at Rich. Zioly, I'm going to get it into that. We have a lot to talk about today. There's also an active shooter situation going on.

1:15.9

The UNC, Chapel Hill, they're warning of an armed, dangerous person. They have a picture of the suspect up on the television screen right now. He appears to be of Asian descent, but don't know what, at least a name or anything like that yet. Anyway, they're saying, if you see this man, stay away from him. They're telling everybody shelter in place. But I know you may have, if you have kids there or grandkids there going to school, it's a very popular school, obviously. So I'll keep you informed of that as a day goes on.

1:45.9

It's just to everybody over there. Apparently this armed, dangerous person is still on the loose. And that is this ongoing situation right now. So terrible, terrible thing, obviously. And also what happened in Florida, terrible thing. I thought Governor DeSantis responded to it very, very well. Even though the media is blaming him for what is a hate crime, why he gets blamed for it, I don't know. I have a lot of thoughts on the presidential race from being off for a week.

2:15.9

I've been watching parts of it here and there. I didn't watch the whole thing. I'll be honest with you. I was in beach mode. I was in family mode. I was in kid mode and dad mode. And I also did not watch the entire Trump interview with Tucker. But because when you, when you check out, you got to check out otherwise, you wind up. You can't relax because he might as well be on the air, you know. But a couple key takeaways that I realized in watching just a little snippet of that debate. Was it me or did Vivek Ramaswame, the vague?

2:45.9

As he told me to pronounce it, Vivek Ramaswame, throw Chris Christie off his game. I could not believe that. That was one of the big takeaways I got that night was that it seemed to me like Vivek threw Christie off his game. And I wonder, because a lot of people have said, well, you know, he's there and he supports Trump and what's he doing up there? Well, I think I saw it play out on that stage, the little that I watched of it just a little bit. But I think I saw it. I think I think I realized why he's there because it doesn't help Trump.

3:15.9

To be on the stage with Chris Christie and to have Chris Christie just attack him. Christie's auditioning for something. It's not the presidency. Obviously he's not going to be president. But you need somebody to stop him and enter Vivek and all of a sudden, Christie, I thought was was was thrown off a little bit. Let me know what you think. Also to this whole thing with Georgia and the feds, the timing of this, you know, the special counsel Jack Smith wanted to

3:45.9

Trump's trial and DC to begin January six charges to begin on January 2nd of 2024. Imagine that. So you have New Year's Day. And then all of a sudden, you're into a federal trial for the former president of the United States. A lot of fun for a

Georgia. But the date has been moved to March, March 4th, smack dab in the middle of Super Tuesday, along with Georgia as well. So Trump's got to fight two fronts. Three, really, the federal charges in March, the Georgia charges in March. And then he also has to fight something else. Of course, which is winning the Republican primary nomination. Super Tuesday in March. It's all happening at the same time. I mean, think about that. You're running for president of the United States. You are also having to be in court.

4:33.0

You also have to deal with keeping yourself from dying in jail. You know that there's no pardon in Georgia. Republican governor doesn't have part in power. Even if he did, I'm not sure this guy would use it.

4:45.0

And there's something about the judge related to the Georgia case. Or I should say the, yes, the judge. But I'm going to share with you that I think you're all going to want to know about. And Julie Kelly will be on the show a little bit later today to talk about that.

4:57.0

But he's got to be fighting for all these things on these different fronts while running for president.

5:03.0

Now, look, if I was running for president of the United States, I'm giving it all I got. You have to give it all you got.

5:09.0

But if I'm also trying to avoid federal prison, I got to give that all I got. And if I'm also trying to avoid state prison, I got to give that all I got.
