Copenhagen, date line. Denmark's Prime Minister Metta Fredrickson said, following a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron,

that political leaders in Europe and beyond

have given full backing to maintain respects

for international borders. What's the subject? Greenland.

The president of the United States is said to have made a direct phone call

to the Prime Minister of Denmark,

and it's characterized here in summary by the Financial Times

as a rough call. Mr. Trump, as I understand it, wants to acquire, buy purchase, Greenland and use it as an Arctic base to counter the Arctic base of the Russian Federation and the plans of the People's Republic of China.

Denmark, however, is saying we're not selling.

Judy, I understand this is on the borders of European concepts of what can happen in the world.

When Mr. Trump is deadly serious, as he is about Panama, is this an issue that goes to the heart of the EU holding together?

Macron giving it full backing.

Does that mean that Denmark has a full backing of Germany as well?

Have they commented?

Yes, indeed.
