I'm Stuart Mandel, joined, as always by Bruce Feldman for our Wednesday episode.

It's been heavy, heavy playoff talk on here for weeks.

We're going to take a little break from that because there's no games until next week.

Bruce, really the story in college football right now, and it's a fluid story,

so it's a little tricky to talk about on the show, but I think we need to,

is the possibility of Bill Belichick becoming the coach of UNC. What started as a rumor or

seemingly far-fetched possibility last week really took a different turn, I think, when he went

on Pat McAfee on Monday, and it was clear he wanted the job. And it seems like there's been negotiations since.

Maybe by the time people listen to this, it will be done.

Maybe it won't.

Maybe it'll have blown up.

I don't know.

But how did we get to this point?

Well, I'll say this about almost a week ago, I got a text from somebody's a pretty good source and reference b b b is in the

middle of the middle of it with unc and it was like b b b as in bill bellichick that just didn't seem to add up

um and then we started scrambling on it um And then things were starting to get some traction.

It's been a weird search to begin with for North Carolina.

And we've done a lot of reporting, especially with our Brendan Marks, who's covered

North Carolina for us and has mostly been on the basketball sides, but done a lot of good reporting on this about how kind of unwieldy this actual search is,

where you have, you know, one of the regents has been very much trying to land Belichick.
