Hey, this is Durey and welcome to POD Save the People.

Now, when I think about power, I think about power being a combination of participation

plus impact.

And that when we think about equity versus equality, we know that equality is when everybody

gets the same thing and equity is when people get what they deserve.

And when we talk about the work of social justice, it is often work of equity.

And as well, making sure people get what they deserve given the circumstances, given

a history and given disparity in outcomes.

And the power equation is interesting because sometimes it's attacked at the participation

level that their things like voter ID laws that are trying to change the way that people

can participate by making sure that fewer people can participate than otherwise.

And there's some things that are about the impact.

So no matter how many meetings you go to, your voice doesn't matter in some places.

No matter how many times you call, no matter how many times you do X, Y and Z, that the

impact of your participation is no.

But we know what it means to restore power is that when people participate, it means

something and that they have a chance to participate.

So today, after me bringing Sam go through the news, we'll talk to panel of experts

about voter ID because this conversation about voting and voter ID laws is actually more

nuanced than I think often hits the public conversation.

Some hoping that this is a space where we can talk about it more in depth.

In the end, we have to know the world as it is to make it as we want it to be.
