Summary
Stating that happiness is a choice might make some people roll their eyes in disbelief; however, the affirmation is as simple as accurate. All of us have ups and downs in our personal and professional lives. Focusing on the positive side of things will push us towards our goals, and concentrating on the negative aspects will leave us stuck in the past, incapable of evolving. Today's guest, Empress, has what she calls losers amnesia; she doesn't remember the bad things. She is continuously focusing on the positive side of things, which is one of the many reasons that explain her accomplished life.
Empress is a pop singer and songwriter; she is a former ballerina for the San Francisco Ballet and Broadway actress. Although she didn't walk the traditional path to become a ballerina, her talent and conviction pushed her forward, and she became one of the youngest members of the San Francisco Ballet at age 16. Somehow, Empress managed to block out the noise of people saying she'll never make it, and helped by her supportive family, she became the accomplished artist she is today.
In this episode, we dive into Empress's deep relationship with music and art and the challenges she managed to overcome in the process of going full circle from dancer to songwriter. We talked about her family and how her parents encouraged her to be an artist, and she kindly shared some tips for parents interested in doing the same with their kids. We also spoke about positivity and how what we focus on can determine our outcomes in life.
Tune in to Episode 91 of Rejuvenaging and listen to Empress's journey following her dreams and constant evolution.
