It's time we talk about becoming assertive.

This has come off the back of quite a lot of you actually messaging me,

saying that you'd like me to talk about becoming more bold,

becoming more assertive, learning how to better stand up for yourself

and not be that girl who keeps on being too

forgiving so today we will be tackling the understanding girlfriend trope because that is what has

got my people in a deep firm firm, tight chokehold.

When we talk about assertiveness, I think for a lot of women,

the definition revolves around this idea of a woman who is cold,

who is unsympathetic, who is almost robotic, a woman who is unwavering in her ideas and what she wants,

which often leaves little to no wiggle room for the relationship. And whilst those might be themes that fall under the definition of an assertive woman,

that is not the complete definition in my opinion, because as an assertive woman myself,

I believe there are other traits that make you assertive, especially within the context of

dating men. So one of the key traits in being assertive is having your absolute non-negotiables.

For each woman, this will differ. For some women, they're non-negotiables. For each woman, this will differ. For some women, their non-negotiables are

the man needs to be an emotional support for them or the man absolutely cannot cheat. Like,

that would be an ultimate deal breaker for the relationship.

For other women, their non-negotiables are.

The guy needs to be good looking and tall and funny and have the same music taste.

Every woman's non-negotiables, it derives from what your life looks like,

what you want from a partner,

and what you actually prefer.
