The Tudors Dynasty podcast. Hello, dear listeners, welcome back. I know that I am happy to be back for our

0:08.3

episode six recap of the Star series Becoming Elizabeth. Before we start, I do want to thank Katie from

0:17.1

Queen's podcast for stepping in last week and being my voice. She did a fantastic job

0:23.5

and truly saved the day. This next episode in the series is entitled What Cannot Be Cured. And of course,

0:32.5

now we know the end of that statement is, what cannot be cured must be endured.

0:40.7

And we were left with a cliffhanger last week showing that Elizabeth was either going to be

0:46.6

arrested or, at the very least, questioned in the aftermath of Thomas Seymour's attempted

0:53.6

kidnapping and or murder of King Edward

0:58.4

the 6th. We open on Thomas in the Tower of London now. His accommodations actually look fairly nice,

1:07.3

but later, of course, Bishop Gardner steps in and reminds us that no one is actually truly

1:14.7

1:23.0

comes to visit, and he makes an attempt to sort of level with his brother. He needs to know the truth

1:29.9

of what happened, and now he is using the threat of torture. In this period of history, we know

1:38.3

it is filled with tales of torture and very creative methods. Shows like the tutors or even Borges have depicted a handful of

1:48.8

especially terrible methods, and we know the Inquisitions of Spain and Rome were also barbaric.

1:57.3

Earlier in the season, Catherine Parr even detailed the torture of anne askew so in short this is not a threat i would take lightly

2:06.8

if i were thomas it's about to get pretty brutal if he doesn't spill some details about this break-in and his ultimate intentions for King Edward.

2:18.8

But Thomas being Thomas at this point is still under the impression that he will receive a trial.

2:26.9

So he's trying to keep his story to himself.

2:30.9

Now, does that mean he has a different story?

2:33.8

Does that mean, obviously, in the context of the show, he's trying to come up with a good story? I don't really know what his motivation is here, but he has decided to be tight-lipped. Then, King Edward and Somerset are shown out falconing. We've talked about this a little

2:54.8

bit because of the stag, Elizabeth and her scene with the stag. So falconing is essentially hunting,
