Summary

Family is the first and most important institution created by God, yet we often live by default instead of by design. In today's episode, we spoke with Jeff and Alyssa Bethke about their passion for Family Teams, what that term means, and how to celebrate the importance of being a family through rhythms of rest and celebration. For more incredible resources from the Bethkes, go to FamilyTeams.com/get-started (https://familyteams.com/get-started/)! We talked about: * Families on mission vs. family AS mission * Seeking unity around important things * How to be a family that "sends" each other out on mission * Taking time each year to plan AND reflect on the past * The art of the Sabbath, and why it should be the best day of your week * So much more... 0:05.3

and they are actually old friends of ours, old original Pacific Northwesterners who now live in Maui,

0:11.6

Lucky Lucky. Anyways this was probably one of my favorite conversations we got to talk about all

0:17.2

things, marriage, family, living on mission. I feel like they just bring a lot of history and

0:23.4

texture and understanding and just wisdom beyond their years about what it means to be a family

0:30.1

team and why that's on mission with God's purpose and what and God's original design vehicle for

0:36.1

marriage. One of the things I love about Jeff and Alyssa is that they are so gospel centered but

0:40.3

they think about things in such I think refreshing and unique terms which I know is part of their

0:44.7

mission right is to get you kind of reinvigorated in the wonder of these deep truths that we find

0:49.8

in scriptures. So as you listen to this it helped us immensely as their resources always do

0:56.2

but we like Selina said this has been one of our favorite conversations so we trust you'll enjoy it,

1:00.5

we hope you enjoy it and yeah we'll see you on the other side.

1:10.4

All right Jeff and Alyssa Bethke thank you so much for joining us. How are you guys doing?

1:14.4

Good thanks for having us. Yeah thanks for having us just put the kids down for a nap. This is

1:17.8

the work from home life and it is a cool 75 degrees outside in Maui so we're doing good.

1:22.4

Yeah awesome well that's that's I would expect no less. Maui's one of our favorite spots

1:27.2

so we're gonna somehow get out there in the next little bit but anyway so some of our obviously

1:32.4

we know you guys we've been following you guys but also Jeff you're from our area or and both

1:37.8

you guys are from our area. I say Jeff because I met you in person like long before you had a

1:43.6

the YouTube thing right and so I wasn't saying that's the fun part about stuff that we're doing is

1:48.0

like it's it's cool to see us both doing stuff on the internet when in reality we're just you know

1:52.0

friends back from the similar same hometowns and know the same people you know and all that stuff
