Summary

This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE!

For more than 100 years, something has moved silently through the thick, tangled bottomlands of southern Arkansas. Locals call it the Fouke Monster—a towering, hair-covered figure said to roam the Sulphur River Bottoms and slip through the shadows of Boggy Creek. Hunters have tracked it. Families have fled from it. A police officer even claimed to see it with his own eyes.

In this episode, we talk with Lyle Blackburn—author of The Beast of Boggy Creek—to peel back the layers of one of America’s most enduring monster legends. From century-old sightings to modern-day encounters, we explore the creature that refuses to stay in the realm of folklore… and the theories that try, but fail, to contain it.

Something is out there in the Arkansas wilds. And the people who’ve seen it aren’t easily dismissed.

And Lyle, thank you so much for joining us today and tell me, how did you become interested in the

falc monster?

1:04.6

Like thousands and thousands of people in the 1970s, when I was really young, I saw a movie called The Legend of Boggy Creek.

1:13.2

And that movie was a sort of docudrama horror movie based on the true life sightings of the Falk Monster.

1:21.1

It was released in 1972 and played for many years in theaters and drive-in circuit and even on television in the 70s and made, I mean, the movie was made for $150,000 and made upwards of $25 million.

1:38.6

It was a huge movie.

1:41.6

And the particular connection I have to it is that I was born in Fort Worth, Texas,

1:48.6

and I lived in Dallas, Fort Worth, Texas all my life. And the Falk, Arkansas is in the southern,

1:58.6

southwest portion of Arkansas is about three and a half hours from where I live.

So, you know, I mean, like I said, I was into Bigfoot and Loch Ness Monster,

but all that stuff seemed so far away.

2:11.4

But as fate would have it, my parents, we were actually in Arkansas.

2:17.4

And for some reason, my parents were going to a
