Ron DeSantis kicked off his presidential campaign in earnest this week following the not so good rollout on Twitter spaces, a big botch there.

This time he did it the old-fashioned way.

He physically appeared in the state of Iowa. It is the state of course that

will hold the first Republican contest early next year and his speech delivered in a mega church

just outside of Des Moines. He pitched himself the voters telling Iowans, leadership is not about entertainment, it's not

about building a brand, it's not about virtue signaling, it is about results. He

then met with more than a dozen local pastors who at a spokesperson said were

praying for the governor's candidacy.

Desances is appearing to make an early play to capture the parties,

evangelical Christian voters, a powerful force in Republican caucuses of past.

Pat Robertson probably is the most famous of the politicians to

cultivate the evangelical vote in Iowa and has become more powerful every

year. Senator Ted Cruz defeated Donald Trump in the

2016 Iowa caucuses relying in part on the on those voters and the former

president is also scheduled to make his way down to the up to the Hawkeye

state later this week.

Still, the latest Monmouth poll of Republican voters

not only confirms Trump's commanding lean at the early states of the primary,

it also has him leading to Santis by 28 points among

evangelical voters in a hypothetical matchup not just overall
