For the past 18 years, Senate Republicans have had one leader.

Mitch McConnell took the job in 2006 and has retained it ever since.

But with his decision to step down from the post after November's elections,

there are three Republicans vying to replace him.

One of them is Rick Scott. He was first elected to

the Senate in 2018 and ran against McConnell two years ago. He's now competing

with Senators

John Cornyn of Texas and John Thune of South Dakota to win the support of his Senate

Republican colleagues. The Daily Signal invited all three senators to

discuss their plans and Scott was the first to accept our request.
