Summary

In the early morning hours of May 25th, 2013, an officer in the small town of Bardstown, Kentucky was headed home.

That officer - Jason Ellis - was a Cincinnati native who had moved to the region a little less than ten years prior. He was married, with two sons, and had left behind his childhood dreams of becoming a professional baseball player to become a member of law enforcement.

But before Officer Ellis could make it home, he was murdered in cold blood - the victim of an ambush, just minutes from his home. To this day, it remains unknown who targeted Jason Ellis... or why.

This is the first part of a new Unresolved series, Bardstown - Revisited. I originally covered Jason's story back in January of 2016, but have gone back and added in new information, rerecorded everything, and changed things significantly.

Bardstown Kentucky has a deep history dating back to the year 1780. European Americans settled

this area during their westward expansion and Bardstown became the second oldest town in Kentucky's

including story visits from US President Abraham Lincoln, the outlaw Jesse James, and the legendary

the beauty and grandeur of the small town. Rand, McNally and other destination contemporaries have

voted Bardstown as the most beautiful small town in America on more than one occasion. The town

a more grimy, unsettling story has begun to write itself in the history book of Bardstown.

Unfortunately, the story doesn't have a clear cut ending and there really isn't anything

all the way back in February of 2016. The entire Bardstown saga was one that I covered in the

early days of this podcast, but for a while now, I've really wanted to go back and add in some

new information, in addition to fixing some things and re-recording everything. So over the next
