Our insightful discussion explores the initial sense of betrayal felt by conservative delegates and whether President Trump's approach was a calculated bid to expand his voter base. Welcome to the Walboater show. This is the intersection of faith and culture. We're taking on those hot topics of the day from a biblical, historical and constitutional perspective. And you found us on Friday, which means it's good news Friday. Rick Green here with David Barton and Tim Parton. and I can't even, I'm glad I don't have your

0:21.4

jobs, guys, because there's so much good news. How y'all are going to pick what to do today? I don't

0:25.5

know, but let's just get after it. So what's our first piece of good news? Well, Rick, I want to hit an

0:30.3

issue that was talked about a lot over the last really four or five months leading up to the election. It goes back to the Republican National Convention back in the summer.

0:39.8

And so, man, that seems like a long time ago.

0:42.1

And I guess it was.

0:42.9

What was that six months ago or seven months ago?

since back really before Reagan. And that language, so many people saw that as a betrayal or

1:04.6

selling out of core Republican values that Trump had been real pro-life in his first administration.

1:10.6

And then after the court struck down Roe v. Wade and turned it back to the states,

1:14.4

he came out and said, well, this shouldn't be a federal issue.

1:17.0

This should be a state issue.

1:18.3

And, of course, we've disagreed with that saying, no, no, an atlable right is an issue.

1:22.8

It's a right that goes to every individual.

1:25.8

It doesn't because you live in a pro-life state, it's because you're

1:28.3

human. It's like slavery is not a state's rights issue, the right to liberty out of the Declaration

1:34.2

of Independence. That belongs to every individual. And so there was a lot of people really concerned

1:39.5

about Trump not going to be pro-life anymore. And it looked like it was not going to be that in his

1:43.8

administration. And I had a different take not going to be that in his administration.

1:44.7

And I had a different take back then.
