Summary

Jesus often talks about the Kingdom of God like a garden. And in this Kingdom, Jesus saw himself as the tree at the center. Listen in as Tim and Jon discuss the life and parables of Jesus, as well as the future promise of a new Eden on the final pages of the Bible.

0:05.9	We have been diving in the last few episodes of this podcast on the theme of trees in the
0:10.8	Bible.
0:11.8	And today, we're going to start in the New Testament.
0:14.7	The New Testament begins with Jesus.
0:17.5	He's a traveling prophet who taught people that the kingdom of God was coming with him.
0:21.8	We have many of his teachings recorded in the Gospels, and perhaps it will be a surprise
0:25.3	to you that one of the things Jesus loved to talk about was trees.
0:31.4	When he wants to actually talk about what the kingdom is like, we get the parables, and
0:35.9	the parables are shot through with Garden of Eden imagery.
0:39.9	It's all about trees and seeds and plants.
0:42.4	You have to ask yourself, why is that?
0:44.4	We're also going to jump ahead during this conversation to the final tree in the Bible.
0:49.3	A tree that Jesus is also connected to.
0:52.6	This is what's found in the book of the Revelation.
0:55.3	In the book of Revelation, you have Jesus followers being addressed by John the visionary.
1:02.0	And so he starts offering all of this encouragement or warning to the churches.
1:06.3	Hey, follow Jesus.
1:07.9	And if you do, Jesus will meet you.
1:10.8	He starts making all these promises to the seven churches.
1:13.2	One of the promises to the church of Ephesus is he says, listen, if you guys are faithful
1:17.8	to Jesus until the end, Jesus is saying this to the church.
