It's the Friday before prom, and DuPont Manual High School's Black Student Union

is having one of their last meetings of the year.

60 or so kids are sitting around tables in the cafeteria,

crammed in with their backpacks, and pre-prom energy has the group buzzing. But underneath the laughter there's anxiety.

DuPont manual, or manual as it's known is a magnet school.
