There's an inherent power in patterns.

When the human mind is aware of a pattern, it starts to have expectations.

So when I first read the epilogue to a dance with dragons, I knew I was about to see

a new point of view for one chapter, and I knew that that new POV would die.

Every prologue slash epilogue character dies, you probably noticed, in all but one case

they got in that same chapter.

The pattern of doom is a good enough name for it, I like that.

Personally, I was pretty eager and slightly anxious to find out who it would be this time,

especially with the awesome bear mere six skins prologue, relatively fresh on my mind.
