ancient warfare related ramble, my ramble, about ancient warfare related topics to take you

away from your everyday concerns for things in the real world.

And what I do here, of course, is I

war games and I forgot to mention Kriegsspiel, the Prussian war game that

was introduced in the late 19th century for Prussian officers to think about war. Apologies.

Apologies. Indeed, I could have mentioned that. Now, today's question is from Paul and he says,

Dear Ancient Warfine magazine podcast, I've been listening to you for a while now and particularly

like the Quick Fire pods, I believe I qualify as a Quick Fire pod. I've been listening to you for a while now, and particularly like the quick fire

pods. I believe I qualify as a quick fire pod. I'm relatively new to the pod and ancient history

since I moved to Rome from England. I am jealous that you live in Rome now. I feel very fortunate

to live near the city, though there is so much more to the region than Rome itself. Indeed,

there is in the ancient world in general.

Apologies, I'm writing too much. No, no, never. A question for you, I am assuming not,

but we know where assumptions can go, so I'd like to ask. Indeed, were the reasons for war in ancient times any different to the modern era. Ooh, interesting one.

Look, you know, as I record this, there are wars going on around us,
