Hello and welcome to another episode of the ancient warfare podcast.

My name is Jasper Ortiz.

I'm the editor of Ancient Warfare Magazine.

And with me today are Mark DeSantis, Marry Dom, the assistant editor, Mark McCaffrey, and Lindsay Powell.

And because it's a, you know, for me at least, it's 1130 on a Friday night in July.

So what better to do than talk about a movie or actually not even a movie yet at trailer.

We just thought we'd have a really good rant about the trailer for Gladiator 2.

And you might say everyone's been doing that.

But, you know, we could say that Gladiator 1, or Gladiator, as it's better known,

had something to do perhaps with the origins of the magazine,

because at the time, Roman Army talk, the forum of the magazine because at the time Roman army talk the forum that this

magazine more or less originated in had just started on gosh easy boards or something like that

for anybody who was around that long ago.

And the fact that Gladiator came out certainly boosted the interest in ancient warfare and ancient history in general.

I think that many of us who are professionally in this sort of area of history can thank the movie for that.

But there were one or two niggles with that movie.

In fact, there are whole threads on Roman Army talk that you could probably still find

about everything that was not right about, the equipment, the tactics, and perhaps the

broader history. And now there's a three-minute trailer out tactics, and perhaps the broader history.

And we can talk about some of the things we spotted in there that we may or may not have

issues with.
